Grocery Price Book & Store Comparison Tool: Find the Best Deals

Ever wondered whether groceries are actually cheaper at Aldi, Walmart, Costco, or your local supermarket? Our free Grocery Price Book & Store Comparison Tool helps you record prices, compare different package sizes, and track how prices change over time. Build a personalized shopping basket, see which store offers the lowest complete checkout total, and discover where buying individual items could save you money. Your price history stays saved in your browser, so you can keep building a smarter shopping routine.

✦ The Thrifty Habit | Smart Shopping Studio

Start your price book

Try our imaginary examples, or create your own store list from scratch.

Your prices are saved on this device when browser storage is available. No account needed.

Example data is fictional. No real-time pricing or store feeds are used. Add your own receipt or shelf prices for useful comparisons.
🏬

1. Your stores

Add the places where you usually shop.

🧺

2. Your shopping basket

Each product has a shopping quantity. Add a few staples, then record prices from different stores.

Your basket is empty. Add a product or load the examples above.
🏷️

3. Record a shelf price

Enter package size, number of packs, the price you paid, and the date. We convert mixed sizes automatically.

A 6-pack costs the entered total price for all six packs.

Choose a product and enter its size to preview its comparable unit price.

📊

4. Where is your basket cheaper?

Compare the actual price of enough whole packs to cover your shopping list.

Fair comparison rule: We use each store’s latest recorded price for each product. A store with missing items is shown as incomplete, never falsely declared the cheapest.
Add stores, products, and prices to compare a basket.

Checkout estimates include whole-pack rounding but exclude taxes, coupons, memberships, delivery charges, and travel between stores. Quantity beyond your needs is not automatically wasted, but it still costs money today.

📉

5. Price detective

See the best current unit price and how observed prices have moved over time.

Choose a product to see prices.

Price history is based only on the prices you enter. The most recent observation replaces older prices in the current comparisons.

💡

Small shopping habits, smarter decisions

A few reminders before you chase the lowest number.

🧮 Compare like with like. Mixed ounces, pounds, grams, and milliliters are converted to a common unit for each product. Don’t compare different products solely by weight.

📦 Bigger isn’t automatically better. Whole-package prices matter when the budget is tight, and an unused bargain can turn into waste.

🗓️ Log sale dates. A recent price can beat an older deal. Keep adding entries to make your personal price book more valuable.

🚗 Include the trip. Saving $1 across town may not justify an extra drive. Our store totals do not include transportation.
