Unit Price Calculator: Find Out Which Product Is Actually Cheaper

Not sure whether the big pack or the small pack is the better deal? This unit price calculator does the math instantly — enter the price and quantity of two or three products and it tells you exactly which one costs less per ounce, per sheet, per serving, or whatever unit makes sense. No more guessing at the shelf.

The Thrifty Habit tools

Unit Price Calculator

Compare up to four products—even when the packages use different units. Find the actual best value, not just the lowest sticker price.

🛒
What are you comparing?

You can mix ounces, pounds, grams and kilograms in the same comparison.

Try a sample comparison

Examples use illustrative prices, not live store offers.

Step 2

Compare your products

Enter the total shelf price of each package. For multipacks, enter the size of one item and how many are included.

💡What the numbers mean

What could this save you over time?

Optional: enter how much you use in a month. We’ll compare the cheapest and priciest option for that same amount.

Potential annual difference
Enter your usage

Based on equal quantities, before taxes, wasted leftovers or pack-rounding.

Worth remembering: The lowest unit price isn’t always the best purchase if you’d waste the extra amount or if product quality differs.

How unit prices help you shop smarter

The shelf price is the amount you pay today. The unit price divides that total by the quantity you’re getting, making different package sizes easier to compare. The calculator automatically converts between US and metric weight or volume units.

For a multipack, enter the total price, size of one item, and the number included. For example, a 12-pack of 12 fl oz drinks contains 144 fl oz. For sheet counts, servings and other items, compare products with genuinely comparable sizes or uses.

A lower unit price isn’t automatically a better buy. Consider freshness, storage, expected waste, and how much cash you need to spend upfront. For the bigger picture, read when buying in bulk saves money and how to spot a fake deal.

Figures are based entirely on the prices, quantities and assumptions you enter. Example prices are illustrative. Savings assume equal usable quantities, not necessarily equal checkout totals.
